2021 Military Pay Chart

Military pay charts are used to track and monitor all aspects of a military servicemen’s pay including awards, bonuses, health care, and other compensation. Military pay grades are utilized every year by all the uniformed branches of the U.S. armed forces to determine monthly salary and other benefits for members of their personnel. For some service personnel, pay grades are the only means to receiving certain salaries. But in most cases, military paygrades are applied to the whole enlisted force.

The U.S. Air Force, Army, and Navy each have different paygrades for their personnel. While one service may use the actual pay grade to award a soldier, another may apply the grade to his or her pay. Another option is that the parade that a service member is paid may be a combination of several parades. For example, an airman may receive an “A” for his or her previous skills and expertise, but also receive an “E” for his or her extra skills such as leadership training.

A soldier who has completed basic training will likely receive an “A” for his or her previous experience and training. This is also referred to as a promotion pay grade. However, if a soldier has been a part of a specialized unit that was awarded a” Specialist pay grade,” they will likely receive an “S” for their prior experience and training. This combination of promotion paygrade and specialty pay grade will be used to determine a servicemen’s next paygrade.

The next factor in determining a servicemen’s pay grade is his or her years of service. This will only apply to those in the Navy or the Marine Corps who have been members of that service for at least a decade. Officers who have served for fewer than ten years will not be eligible for this paygrade.

Another factor in a servicemen’s pay grade is the amount of money he or she is paid. The longer someone has been in the service, the higher his or her pay grade will be. The majority of enlisted personnel will begin their parade at the lowest pay grade level and work their way up until they reach the top of the enlisted pay grade chart. The more years someone has been in the service, the higher-paying jobs they may qualify for.

All servicemen need to understand how their pay grade ranks in the Navy or the Marine Corps. Understanding what these two different paygrades are will be the difference between a successful career and one that leads to a pay grade that does not allow for the financial stability needed to lead a quality life. It is not uncommon for people to leave the military and find a job with a pay grade that is far below their initial enlistment pay grade. If you find yourself in this situation, there are ways to quickly get your paygrade back up to where it should be so that you can enjoy your future and have financial security.
