An employment cost index determines how much the U.S. military pay scale called the Allowable Rate. The index is calculated by studying the demand for enlisted troops permanently, permanent personnel, and temporary military retirees per 100 active duty personnel. After analyzing these elements, the rate is adjusted in order to produce a figure that relies on the strength requirements for each group to ensure that there is a sufficient number of workers. This method is employed to fix a basic rate of military pay that is then applied to each branch.

The U.S army has its ranking procedure in force. The ranks are established in the hands of the First Lieutenant, and beyond and include officers like Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants, and majors. In the army, there are three levels in order from highest to lowest through the order of the commander. They are referred to as “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale used by the army is First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and the list goes on. This ranks people in different categories of service within the different wings that comprise the Army. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  in military units like the Marine Corps will be considered Officers in Reserve or Officers Regular. For those who are higher-ranked, they will be classified as Officers Special or Specialists. In addition, those employed in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruiters and those who are in the Navy will be designated as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next stage in the military pay scale is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this ladder is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. When you reach the rank of Colonel, you will be promoted to General and will be in charge of your entire army and whole staff. In this position it is also possible to earn the most pay per day. Higher levels are entitled to an increased number of days of paid holiday per month.

Pay increases at this level are dependent on the cost of living index. This is an attempt to keep track of the rate of inflation in living expenses. If an area has an index that is high, then the costs of living are expected to be greater than when the Index is not high. This causes an increase in the salary of military personnel with a higher education level and were promoted and received pay raises like those in lower pay levels. People who are promoted to areas below their paygrade have no pay increase.

Officers who are commissioning and enlisted receive promotions to Warrant Officer. The pay they receive in this grade is determined by their actual commission ratings, which is usually above the rank of their actual star. Higher levels of command that include Colonels, both commissioned, and enlisted officers can be eligible for promotions to Colonel. When they are upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned will be eligible for general promotion. Thus, those who have already been elevated to General are eligible for promotions to Vice Captain or Major.

In addition, the salaries for Specialties increase in every couple of years. You need to be in the top twenty percent of your enlistment class in order to earn the pay grade of Specialized. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist. Individuals who hold any of these specialty paygrades are eligible to apply for the position of surgical technician or Medical Assistant, after they have reached the required number hours of work experience and have achieved the level of promotion required.
