When you reach the rank of Colonel, you will be promoted to General and will be in charge of all of the military and the whole staff. At this rank, you will also receive the highest amount of pay per day. At higher levels, can expect to receive the most number of of paid holidays per year.
Pay rises at this point are calculated based on the army cost of labor index. This is an attempt to accommodate for the increase of living expenses. When an area is characterized by high cost index, the costs of living are expected to be much higher than when the index falls. This results in an increase in the salary of military personnel who have a high education and received similar promotions and increments that are similar to those in lower pay levels. Promotions in lower pay grades have no pay increase.
Officers who have both an enlisted and commissioned rank get the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn when they reach this level is based on their commission rating that is typically higher than the grade of their current star. At higher levels of leadership including Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers will be entitled to a promotion to a Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned are eligible for general promotion. So, officers who have had a previous promotion to General are eligible for a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties increase in every couple of years. It is necessary to be in the top twenty percent of your class to qualify for the pay grade of Specialized. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist.
