The next level up in the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rank is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you will rank as a General and will be in charge of your entire army and entire staff. At this level you’ll also be able to receive the most pay per day. As you progress, you will also receive the most number of paid days of vacation per month.
Pay increments at this level are calculated based on the army cost index for employment. This allows you to accommodate for the increase of living expenses. When an area is characterized by an index that is high, then the cost of living will be expected to be greater than when the cost index falls. This can result in an increase in the compensation of military members who are highly educated and who have experienced similar promotions and raises like those in lower pay grades. People who are promoted to lower pay grades have no pay increase.
Officers with engaged and commissioned receive an increase to the rank of Warrant Officer. The salary they earn in this grade is based on their commission rating that is generally higher than the grade of their current star. When they reach higher levels of the command, such as Colonel, both commissioned, and enlisted officers will be eligible for a promotion to a Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotion. That means, those who’ve already been elevated to a General will be capable of being promoted to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties increase every two years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to get promoted to an Advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these pay grade specializations can apply to become a Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant when they’ve had the number or years in service, and have reached the appropriate promotion level.
