Army Knowledge Online Classic – The U.S. Military PayScale is the base salary scale for everyone in the military forces. U.S. military pay scales are used as the main measure of personnel pay. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps are the branches that use the pay scales used by the military. Each of these branches has specific regulations that determine its pay grade. This includes bonuses and a special pay consideration for seniority.

A cost of employment index is that U.S. military pay scale called the Allowable Rate. The index is calculated through examining the demand for enlisted troops, permanent personnel, and temporary military retirees for 100 active-duty soldiers. After analyzing these elements then the rate is adjusted in order to produce a figure that assumes the strength requirements of each group to ensure a sufficient workforce. This method is used in order to create a basic military wage which is then utilized in each branch.

The U.S army has its ranking procedure in force. The ranks are determined through the first lieutenant and higher and comprise officers such as Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants and majors. Within the army, three levels are ranked from highest to lowest within the command chain. They are called the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

Another pay scale utilized by the army is First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and other ranks. This ranks people in different fields of service in the different wings that comprise the Army. For instance, those with lower ranks in military units like the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve or Officers Regular. For those who are higher-ranked, they will be classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Also, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruiters and those in the Navy will be considered Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next level up in the military pay scale is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rank is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. At Colonel rank, you will rank as a General and will be accountable for the entire military and whole staff. At this level you’ll also receive the highest amount of pay per day. At higher levels, are entitled to a number of paid days of holiday per month.

Pay increases at this rate are based on the military cost of labor index. This is a method to reflect the increasing of living expenses. If a location has an index that is high, the cost of living is predicted to be much more than when the index is less. This causes an increase in the wages of military personnel who have a high education and experienced similar promotions and pay raises like those in lower pay grades. Promotions in lower pay grades get no raise.

Officers that are both commissioning and enlisted receive the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn for this position is determined by their commission rating which is usually higher than the grade of their current star. In higher ranks of command including Colonel, both commissioned, and enlisted officers will be eligible for the rank of Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotion. So, officers who have already been elevated to a General are eligible to receive a promotion to Vice Captain or a Major.

Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties increase approximately every two years. You have to be in the top 20 percent of your class to get promoted to an Advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialties pay grades can apply to become a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, once they’ve had the number to years working and have completed the required level of promotion.
