The next stage in the military pay scale is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost scale is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. When you attain the rank of Colonel, it means that you are a general and will be in charge of the entire military and entire staff. In this position, you will also receive the most salary per day. As you progress, you will be able to enjoy the most number of days of paid time off per calendar month.
Pay rises at this point are based on the military index of cost of employment. This is an attempt to accommodate for the increase of costs of living. When an area has a high index, the cost of living is anticipated to be much higher than when the cost index falls. This is a reason for an increase the amount of pay paid to military personnel who are highly educated and received similar promotions and increases that are comparable to those in lower pay levels. People who are promoted to positions below their pay grade are not given a raise.
Officers that are both in the enlisted and commissioned ranks receive promotions to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn with this title is based on their actual commission score which is usually higher than the level of their actual star. In higher ranks of command such as Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers can be eligible for an upgrade to Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all commissioned officers will qualify for general promotion. For example, those who’ve previously been promoted to General will be eligible for promotions to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties are increased every two years. You need to be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to gain promotion to an advanced pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these specialties pay grades are eligible to apply for the position of Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant, once they’ve completed the necessary number that have served in the past and have attained the necessary promotion level.
