If you are promoted to higher levels, you will also receive an increased number of paid days of vacation per month.
Pay increases at this level are in accordance with the military’s cost of labor index. This is an attempt to account for the rising in living expenses. This results in an increase in the pay for military members who are educated and have received similar promotions and raises similar to those of lower paygrades. Officers with commissioned and enlisted rank receive an upgrade to Warrant Officer. The pay they receive as a Warrant Officer is based on their actual commission ratings that is typically higher than the actual star. At higher levels of command, such as Colonel, both enlisted and commissioned officers are entitled to promotions to Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotion. Thus, those who have earlier been promoted to General are qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or Major.
Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties increase approximately every two years. You have to be in the top twenty percent of your enlistment class to qualify for the Specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist.
