Army Pay Chart By Year – The U.S. Military PayScale is the base salary scale for all members of the Armed forces. U.S. military pay scales serve as the primary measurement tool for determining personnel compensation. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps are the branches that use the scale of pay used by military personnel. Each of these branches has specific rules that define its pay scale. This includes bonuses, as well as special compensation for seniority.

A cost of employment index is how much the U.S. military pay scale known as the Allowable Rate. The index is calculated through examining the demand for enlisted troops or permanent employees, as well as temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty personnel. After taking into account these factors, the rate is adjusted so that it takes into account the strength requirements of each of these groups to ensure a sufficient workforce. This method is used in order to set a basic military pay which is later used in each branch.

The U.S army has its rank established system. Its ranks are formulated with the help of First Lieutenant or above and comprise officers such as sergeants, lieutenants (colonels), lieutenants and majors. In the army, there are three levels classified from the highest to the lowest on the hierarchy of commands. They are referred to as “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The second pay scale used in the army is First Major First Lieutenant, First Lieutenant and others. These pay scales rank people in various areas of work in the various wings in the military. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  within their respective divisions of the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve, or Officers Regular. On the other hand, those with higher ranks will be classified as Specialists or Officers Special. In addition, individuals in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those in the Navy will be designated as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step up the military pay scale is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost rung is known as the ” Colonel”. When you reach the rank of Colonel, you will rank as a General and will have responsibility for your entire army and entire staff. As a Colonel you’ll also be able to receive the most money per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you will also receive an increased number of days of paid annual vacation.

Pay increases at this level are determined by the military cost index for employment. This is a way to accommodate for the increase of costs of living. When a region has a high index, the costs of living are expected to be more expensive than when the cost of living index is very low. This results in an increase in the amount of pay paid to military personnel with a higher education level and were promoted and received pay increases that are comparable to those in lower pay grades. Personnel who are promoted to jobs that are not in their pay grade receive no increment.

Officers that are both engaged and commissioned receive the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid as a Warrant Officer is based on the actual rating of their commission that is typically higher than that of their real star. At higher levels of leadership like Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers are entitled to an upgrade to Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned will qualify for general promotion. Thus, those who have previously been promoted to a General are eligible to receive a promotion to Vice Captain or Major.

Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties go up every two years. You have to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to be promoted to the Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist. Individuals who hold any of these pay grades can apply to become surgeon technician or Medical Assistant, after they’ve completed the necessary number of years of service and attained the necessary promotion level.
