Army Pay Chart History – The U.S. Military PayScale is the basic salary scale used by everyone in the military forces. U.S. military pay scales are used as the main measurement tool for determining personnel pay. Pay increase at this level are calculated based on the army cost index for employment. This is a way to reflect the increasing of living expenses. If a location has high cost index, the cost of living is expected to be significantly higher than when the of living index is very low. This leads to an increase in the salaries of military personnel who are educated and have had similar promotions and raises similar to those of lower pay grades. Those who are promoted in jobs that are not in their pay grade are not given a raise.
Officers who are both commissioning and enlisted receive promotions to Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid for this position is determined by the commission they receive which is usually higher than the rank of their actual star. At higher levels of command such as Colonel both enlisted and commissioned officers can receive being promoted to Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers who are commissioned can be promoted to general. Therefore, those who have earlier been promoted to General will be capable of being promoted to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties will increase every two years. You need to be in the top twenty percent of your enlistment class in order to earn an specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. Anyone with one of these pay levels could apply to be a surgical technician or Medical Assistant once they’ve completed the required number to years working and attained the necessary promotion level.
