The pay increases for Specialties will increase  every two years. It is necessary to be in the top 20 percent of your class to get promoted to an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialty paygrades could apply to be a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, once they’ve completed the required number or years in service, and reached the minimum level for promotion.
