The next stage in the pay scale of the military is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rank is the ” Colonel”. At Colonel rank, you will be a general and be responsible for the entire military and whole staff. At this rank, you will also receive the highest amount of pay per day. At higher levels, can expect to receive the most number of days of paid vacation per month.
Pay increments at this level are determined by the military cost of labor index. This is a way to take into account the rise of the cost of living. If an area has an index of high value, the cost of living is likely to be higher than when the cost index is less. This can result in an increase in the compensation of military members who are highly educated and who have experienced similar promotions and raises like those in lower pay levels. The salary they earn at this rank is based on the commission they receive which is usually greater than that of their real star. In higher ranks of command like Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers will be eligible for being promoted to Colonel. When they are upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned will be eligible for general promotion. So, officers who have had a previous promotion to a General are qualified for promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.
The pay increases for Specialties increase every two years. You need to be among the top 20 percent of your class to get promoted to the Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these pay levels can apply to become Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant when they’ve completed the required number that have served in the past and have reached the minimum level for promotion.
