An employment cost index determines how much the U.S. military pay scale called“allowable” Rate. The index is found by analyzing the need for enlisted personnel, permanent personnel, and temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty military personnel. When considering these aspects then the rate is adjusted to provide a rate that will be based on the needs of each group to ensure a sufficient workforce. This is the method used to create a basic military wage that is then used in every branch.

The U.S army has its own ranking method in operation. Its ranks are formulated through the first lieutenant and up and comprise officers such as Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants and majors. Within the army, three levels are classified from the highest to the lowest within the command chain. They are called the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale that is utilized in the army is called the First Major First Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and then on. This is a way of grading people across various categories of service within the various branches in the military. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  within those in the Marine Corps will be considered Officers in Reserve or Officers Regular. In contrast, upper-ranked individuals will be classified as Officers Special or Specialists. Additionally, those who are in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those in the Navy will be classified as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step in the pay scale of the military is called the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost step is known as the ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you are a general and have the responsibility for the entire military and the whole staff. In this position you’ll also earn the most amounts of money per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you will receive an increased number of paid days of leave per month.

Pay increases at this rate are based on the military cost of employment. This allows you to accommodate for the increase of costs of living. When an area has an index of high value, the cost of living will be expected to be greater than when the cost index is lower. This leads to an increase in the wages of military personnel with a higher education level and had similar promotions and raises similar to those of lower paygrades. For those who have promotions in positions below their pay grade have no pay increase.

Officers that are both in the enlisted and commissioned ranks receive an increase to the rank of Warrant Officer. The salary they earn for this position is determined by the actual rating of their commission which is usually higher than the actual star. Higher ranks of command like Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers can be eligible for promotions to Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned can apply for general promotions. That means, those who’ve earlier been promoted to General are qualified for promotion to a Vice Captain or a Major.

Also, the increments in pay for Specialties rise approximately every two years. It is necessary to be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class in order to earn an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these pay grades are eligible to apply for the position of Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant when they have reached the required number that have served in the past and have reached the minimum level for promotion.
