It is the U.S army has its ranking process in place. The ranks are determined through the first lieutenant, and beyond and include officers like Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants and majors. In the army, three levels are in order from highest to lowest to the top of the line of command. They are referred to as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.
The other pay scale that is utilized within the army is the First Major First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and then on. It ranks individuals in various areas of work in the various branches in the military. For example, individuals with lower rank in their respective divisions of the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve, or Officers Regular. On the other hand, those with higher ranks are classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Also, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those in the Navy will be designated as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.
The next level in the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rung is known as the ” Colonel”. At Colonel rank, you will be a general and will be accountable for all of the military and the whole staff. In this position you’ll also be able to receive the most pay per day. At higher levels, you will also receive a number of paid days of leave per month.
Pay increments at this level are calculated based on the army cost of employment. This allows you to accommodate for the increase in living expenses. If a location has an index of high value, the costs of living are expected to be much more than when the of living index is very low. This is a reason for an increase the amount of pay paid to military personnel with a higher education level and experienced similar promotions and pay increases similar to those at lower paygrades. Personnel who are promoted to lower pay grades receive no increment.
Officers that are both in the enlisted and commissioned ranks receive the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn for this position is based on the actual rating of their commission which is usually greater than the grade of their real star. Higher levels of command including Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers can receive the rank of Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotion. This means that those who’ve earlier been promoted to a General are qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or a Major.
Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties increase at least every 2 years. You need to be in the top twenty percent of your class in order to earn an Advanced pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these pay grades can apply to become Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant when they’ve had the number of years of service and reached the required promotion level.
