If a location has high cost index, the cost of living is predicted to be higher than when the of living index is very low. This will result in an increase of the compensation of military members who are highly educated and who have experienced similar promotions and rises as those who are in lower paygrades. Promotions in lower pay grades receive no increment.
Officers who hold both a employed and enlisted are given an advancement to a Warrant Officer. The salary they earn as a Warrant Officer is based on their actual commission rating which is usually greater than that of their real star. At higher levels of leadership including Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers are entitled to the rank of Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned are eligible for general promotion. That means, those who’ve prior to that been upgraded to a General are eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.
In addition, the salaries for Specialties increase approximately every two years. You need to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to gain promotion to an Advanced pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist.
