This can result in an increase in the pay for military members who have a high education and received similar promotions and increases that are comparable to those in lower paygrades. Officers that are both in the enlisted and commissioned ranks receive promotions to Warrant Officer. The pay they receive as a Warrant Officer is determined by the actual rating of their commission that is typically higher than the grade of their real star. Higher ranks of command like Colonel, both commissioned, and enlisted officers will be entitled to being promoted to Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotions. For example, those who’ve had a previous promotion to General are qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or a Major.
Additionally, the salary increases for Specialties go up twice a year. You must be in the top 20 percent of your class to be promoted to an advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist.
