This causes an increase in the salaries of military personnel with a higher education level and experienced similar promotions and pay increases that are comparable to those in lower pay grades. Those who are promoted in lower pay grades receive no increase.

Officers who hold both a an enlisted and commissioned rank get the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid with this title is based on their actual commission ratings that is typically higher than the grade of their real star. Higher levels of command that include Colonels, both commissioned, and enlisted officers are eligible for the rank of Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned can apply for general promotions. Therefore, those who have had a previous promotion to General are eligible for a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties increase approximately every two years. It is necessary to be in the top 20 percent of your class to get promoted to a Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist. Individuals who hold any of these pay grade specializations are eligible to apply for the position of surgeon technician or Medical Assistant, once they’ve reached the required number hours of work experience and reached the required promotion level.
