The next level in the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost ladder is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. In the Colonel rank, you will be a general and will be in charge of all of the military and the whole staff. As a Colonel you’ll also earn the highest pay per day. At higher levels, you will also receive a number of paid days of annual vacation.
Pay increases at this level are based on the military cost of employment. This is a method to reflect the increasing of costs of living. When an area is characterized by high cost index, the costs of living are expected to be greater than when the index falls. This causes an increase in the salary of military personnel who have a high education and enjoyed similar promotions as well as pay increases similar to those at lower paygrades. Those who are promoted in jobs that are not in their pay grade get no raise.
Officers who have both an enlisted and commissioned rank get the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties are increased approximately every two years. You must be among the top 20 percent of your class to be promoted to an Advanced pay grade.
