The next rung on the pay scale of the military is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost ladder is the ” Colonel”. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotions. Therefore, those who have already been elevated to a General are qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties rise approximately every two years. You must be in the top 20 percent of your class to gain promotion to an Advanced pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these pay grades may apply to become a Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant after they’ve reached the minimum number in years served and have reached the minimum level for promotion.
