Pay increase at this level are determined by the military cost of labor index. This is an attempt to account for the rising of living costs. If a location has an index that is high, the cost of living is likely to be more expensive than when the cost index is lower. This can result in an increase in the wages of military personnel who have a high education and experienced similar promotions and pay increases similar to those at lower pay grades. Those who are promoted in areas below their paygrade get no raise.
Officers with engaged and commissioned receive a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The pay they receive with this title is based on their commission rating that is generally higher than the grade of their real star. When they reach higher levels of the command like Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers can be eligible for a promotion to a Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all commissioned officers are eligible for general promotion. Thus, those who have earlier been promoted to General are eligible for promotions to Vice Captain or a Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties rise in every couple of years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class in order to earn an advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these specialty paygrades can apply to become surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, after they’ve reached the required number or years in service, and achieved the level of promotion required.
