The amount they are paid with this title is determined by their actual commission rating which is usually greater than the grade of their real star. Higher ranks of command that include Colonels, both enlisted and commissioned officers will be eligible for an upgrade to Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotion. This means that those who’ve previously been promoted to a General will be qualified for promotion to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties increase at least every 2 years. You must be in the top twenty percent of your enlistment class to qualify for a Specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialties pay grades may apply to become a surgical technician or Medical Assistant after they’ve completed the necessary number or years in service, and have achieved the level of promotion required.
