An index of cost of employment establishes the U.S. military pay scale called the Allowable Rate. The index is found by analyzing the amount of enlisted members as well as permanent and temporary military retirees for 100 active duty personnel. After taking into account these factors and adjusting the rate to provide a rate that considers the strength requirements for each group to ensure an adequate workforce. This process is used to determine a basic military salary that is later applied in each branch.

It is the U.S army has a ranking system in place. Its ranks are established at the level of the First Lieutenant and above and include officers like sergeants, lieutenants or Colonels and majors. In the army, there are three levels in order from highest to lowest on the hierarchy of commands. They are called the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

Another pay scale utilized by the army is First Major First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and other ranks. The pay scale ranks individuals across different areas of work in the different wings that comprise the Army. For example, individuals with lower rank in those in the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve or Officers Regular. However, higher-ranking individuals are classified as Officers Special or Specialists. In addition, those employed in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those in the Navy will be regarded as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step up the military pay scale is called the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this scale is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. At Colonel rank, you become a General and will be accountable for the entire military and entire staff. At this rank it is also possible to earn the most money per day. As you progress, you can expect to receive the most number of of paid leave per month.

Pay increases at this point are dependent on the military’s cost index for employment. This is a method to adjust for the inflation of costs of living. When a region has an index that is high, then the cost of living is predicted to be much more than when the cost Index is not high. This will result in an increase of the wages of military personnel who have a high education and experienced similar promotions and pay increases that are comparable to those in lower paygrades. Those who are promoted in posts below their pay grade have no pay increase.

Officers who have both commissioned and enlisted rank receive the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The pay they receive as a Warrant Officer is determined by their actual commission score that is generally higher than the actual star. Higher levels of command, such as Colonel, both enlisted and commissioned officers can receive advancement to the rank of Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all officers commissioned will qualify for general promotion. This means that those who’ve prior to that been upgraded to General will be eligible for promotions to Vice Captain or Major.

Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties go up every two years. You must be in the top 20 percent of your class to gain promotion to the Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Individuals who hold any of these pay levels could apply to be a surgical technician or Medical Assistant once they’ve had the number to years working and achieved the level of promotion required.
