An employment cost index establishes this U.S. military pay scale called The Allowable Rate. The index is determined using the demand for enlisted personnel as well as permanent personnel and temporary military retirees per 100 active duty personnel. After considering these parameters it is then adjusted to give a rate that relies on the strength requirements of each group to guarantee an adequate workforce. This method is employed to establish a base military pay that is then applied to each branch.

It is the U.S army has its own ranking established system. Its ranks are set through the first lieutenant or above and comprise officers such as Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants, and majors. In the army, three levels are ranked from highest to lowest at the bottom of the rank chain. They are referred to as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

Another pay scale utilized by the army is the First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and further on. The pay scale ranks individuals across different specialties within the various branches that comprise the Army. For instance, those with lower ranks in The Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve, or Officers Regular. However, higher-ranking individuals are classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Also, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those who are in the Navy will be regarded as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next level up in the pay scale of the military is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this scale is the ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you will be considered a General and will be in charge of all military personnel and the whole staff. At this level you’ll also receive the most salary per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you can expect to receive an increased number of of paid leave per month.

Pay increase at this level are based on the military index of cost of employment. This is a method to account for the rising of costs of living. If an area has an index of high value, the cost of living is likely to be much higher than when the index is lower. This can result in an increase in the compensation of military members who have high educational qualifications and were promoted and received pay increases that are comparable to those in lower paygrades. Personnel who are promoted to areas below their paygrade receive no increase.

Officers that are both employed and enlisted are given a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The pay they receive for this position is determined by their actual commission ratings that is generally higher than that of their real star. At higher levels of leadership, such as Colonel, both enlisted and commissioned officers will be eligible for an upgrade to Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotion. This means that those who’ve prior to that been upgraded to a General are eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties are increased approximately every two years. You must be among the top 20 percent of your class to be promoted to an Advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these specialties pay grades can apply to become a Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant once they’ve reached the required number that have served in the past and have reached the minimum level for promotion.
