The index for employment costs establishes what is known as the U.S. military pay scale known as“allowable” Rate. The index is calculated by looking at the demand for enlisted personnel or permanent employees, as well as temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty soldiers. After considering these parameters to determine the appropriate rate, it is adjusted to create a figure that considers the strength requirements for each group to ensure a sufficient workforce. This technique is used to set a basic military pay that is used by every branch.

The U.S army has a ranking system in place. The ranks are established at the level of the First Lieutenant and the upper levels and include officers like Colonels, lieutenants, sergeants and majors. In the army, three levels are classified from the highest to the lowest in the chain of command. They are referred to as “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale employed by the army is First Major First Lieutenant, First Lieutenant and so on. It ranks individuals in various specialties within the different branches that comprise the Army. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  in their respective divisions of the Marine Corps will be considered officers placed in reserve or Officers Regular. While those with higher rank are classified as Officers Special or Specialists. Additionally, those who are in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruiters and those who are in the Navy are classified as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step in the pay scale of the military is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this ladder is the ” Colonel”. As a Colonel, are a general and will be accountable for your entire army and whole staff. As a Colonel you’ll also be able to receive the highest pay per day. Higher levels will receive a number of paid days of time off per calendar month.

Pay increases at this point are based on the military cost of employment. This is an attempt to account for the rising of the cost of living. When a region has an index that is high, then the cost of living will be expected to be more expensive than when the index is low. This leads to an increase in the salary of military personnel with a higher education level and were promoted and received pay increases that are comparable to those in lower pay levels. The ones who are promoted in posts below their pay grade are not given a raise.

Officers with commissioning and enlisted receive a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid for this position is determined by their actual commission score that is typically higher than the grade of their current star. Higher ranks of command that include Colonels, both commissioned, and enlisted officers can receive being promoted to Colonel. After an upgrade to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotions. So, officers who have had a previous promotion to General will be qualified to be promoted to a Vice Captain or Major.

In addition, the salaries for Specialties increase  every two years. You must be in the top 20 percent of your class to be promoted to the pay grade of Specialized. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist. The people who have any of these pay grades could apply to be a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, once they’ve reached the minimum number to years working and attained the necessary promotion level.
