The next rung on the pay scale of the military is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost step is known as“Colonel” ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you will be a general and will be in charge of all military personnel and the entire staff. As a Colonel, you will also receive the most pay per day. As you progress, you will be able to enjoy a number of paid days of time off per calendar month.
Pay increase at this level are dependent on the cost of labor index. This allows you to accommodate for the increase of the cost of living. If a location has high cost index, the costs of living are expected to be much more than when the index is low. This can result in an increase in the salaries of military personnel who have high educational qualifications and had similar promotions and raises like those in lower pay grades. The ones who are promoted in jobs that are not in their pay grade receive no increase.
Officers that are both engaged and commissioned receive an upgrade to Warrant Officer. The pay they receive at this rank is determined by their commission rating which is usually greater than the rank of their actual star. Higher levels of command that include Colonels, both enlisted and commissioned officers are eligible for a promotion to a Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers who are commissioned will be eligible for general promotion. Thus, those who have had a previous promotion to General are eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.
The pay increases for Specialties increase every two years. You must be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to be promoted to the Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialties pay grades could apply to be a surgical technician or Medical Assistant once they’ve had the number or years in service, and attained the necessary promotion level.
