An employment cost index determines an U.S. military pay scale known as the Allowable Rate. The index is calculated by analyzing the demands for enlisted personnel as well as permanent personnel and temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty military personnel. After analyzing these variables then the rate is adjusted in order to produce a figure that assumes the strength requirements of each of these groups in order to guarantee a sufficient workforce. This process is used to define a minimum military pay that is used by each branch.

The U.S army has its own ranking process in place. Its ranks are set in the hands of the First Lieutenant, and beyond and comprise officers such as Colonels, lieutenants, sergeants and majors. Within the army, there are three levels classified from the highest to the lowest to the top of the line of command. They are known as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale employed in the army is First Major First Lieutenant, First Lieutenant and then on. The pay scale ranks individuals across different sectors of service in various wings of the army. For instance, those with lower ranks within their respective divisions of the Marine Corps will be considered Officers in Reserve or Officers Regular. For those who are higher-ranked, they are classified as Specialists or Officers Special. In addition, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruiters and those in the Navy will be regarded as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next rung on the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rung is known as the ” Colonel”. When you reach the rank of Colonel, you will rank as a General and have the responsibility for all military personnel and the whole staff. At this level, you will also receive the most salary per day. At higher levels, you will also receive an increased number of of paid holidays per year.

Pay increase at this level are calculated based on the army employment cost index. This is an attempt to accommodate for the increase of living expenses. When an area is characterized by one with a high cost index, the cost of living is expected to be greater than when the cost index falls. This leads to an increase in the amount of pay paid to military personnel who have a high education and who have experienced similar promotions and increases that are comparable to those in lower pay levels. The ones who are promoted in areas below their paygrade are not given a raise.

Officers that are both engaged and commissioned receive an upgrade to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn when they reach this level is based on the commission they receive that is generally higher than the rank of their actual star. When they reach higher levels of the command like Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers will be entitled to a promotion to a Colonel. After an upgrade to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned can apply for general promotions. So, officers who have already been elevated to General are eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

The pay increases for Specialties rise approximately every two years. It is necessary to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class in order to earn an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Anyone with one of these specialty paygrades could apply to be a surgeon technician or Medical Assistant when they’ve completed the necessary number in years served and attained the necessary promotion level.
