U.S. military pay scales serve as the primary gauge for determining the amount of compensation. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps are the branches which use the pay scales used by the military. Each of these branches has specific provisions that determine its pay scale. This includes bonuses and a special pay consideration for seniority.
A cost of employment index is how much the U.S. military pay scale called The Allowable Rate. The index is calculated by looking at the demand for enlisted personnel, permanent personnel, and temporary military retirees for 100 active duty personnel. After analyzing these elements and adjusting the rate to provide a rate that assumes the strength requirements for each group to ensure that there is a sufficient number of workers. This is the method used to establish a base military pay that is then used in each branch.
It is the U.S army has its rank structure in place. The ranks are decided with the help of First Lieutenant and higher and include officers like Sergeants, lieutenants, Colonels and majors. The next step in the pay scale for military personnel is called the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rank is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. At higher levels of leadership that include Colonels, both commissioned and enlisted officers are eligible for the rank of Colonel. Following an upgrade to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned are eligible for general promotions. This means that those who’ve had a previous promotion to General are qualified for promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.
Also, the increments in pay for Specialties increases every two years. You need to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to be promoted to an Advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Anyone with one of these pay grades may apply to become a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, once they have reached the required number in years served and reached the appropriate promotion level.
