Is My Military Retirement Pay Taxable – The U.S. Military PayScale is the base salary scale for all personnel in the armed forces. U.S. military pay scales serve as the primary measure of personnel compensation. Army, Navy, Air Force as well as Marine Corps are the branches that use the scale of pay used by military personnel. Another pay scale utilized by the army is the First Major First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant and other ranks. This ranks the people working in different specialties within the different branches that comprise the Army. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  in military units like the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve, or Officers Regular. In contrast, upper-ranked individuals are classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Additionally, those who are in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those who are in the Navy will be designated as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next level in the pay scale for military personnel is called the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost step is known as the ” Colonel”. At Colonel rank, you are a general and be responsible for the entire military and the whole staff. In this position you’ll also be able to receive the most salary per day. At higher levels, you are entitled to the most number of paid days of time off per calendar month.

Pay increase at this level are determined by the military index of cost of employment. This is an attempt to adjust for the inflation of costs of living. If an area has a high index, the cost of living will be expected to be much higher than when the index falls. This will result in an increase of the amount of pay paid to military personnel who are highly educated and received similar promotions and increases that are comparable to those in lower paygrades. People who are promoted to areas below their paygrade receive no increment.

Officers who have both an enlisted and commissioned rank get the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn as a Warrant Officer is determined by their actual commission ratings which is usually greater than the rank of their actual star. At higher levels of command like Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers can be eligible for an upgrade to Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all commissioned officers are eligible for general promotion. Therefore, those who have prior to that been upgraded to General will be eligible for a promotion to a Vice Captain or a Major.

Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties go up at least every 2 years. You have to be in the top 20 percent of your class to gain promotion to an advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these specialties pay grades may apply to become a Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant after they’ve had the number hours of work experience and completed the required level of promotion.
