The pay they receive at this rank is determined by their commission rating, which is usually above the rank of their actual star. Higher levels of command such as Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers are entitled to being promoted to Colonel. After an upgrade to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned will qualify for general promotion. For example, those who’ve previously been promoted to General are eligible for a promotion to Vice Captain or a Major.

Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties are increased every two years. It is necessary to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class in order to earn the pay grade of Specialized. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialty pay grades may apply to become a surgeon technician or Medical Assistant when they’ve had the number that have served in the past and have reached the required promotion level.
