Officers who hold both a commissioned and enlisted rank receive an upgrade to Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid as a Warrant Officer is based on their actual commission score which is usually higher than the actual star. When they reach higher levels of the command such as Colonel both commissioned, and enlisted officers will be entitled to promotions to Colonel. When they are upgraded to Colonel, all commissioned officers will be eligible for general promotion. Thus, those who have already been elevated to General will be qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or Major.
In addition, the salaries for Specialties increases every two years. You must be among the top 20 percent of your class to gain promotion to a Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist.
