As a Colonel, are a general and be responsible for all military personnel and the entire staff. At this level you’ll also receive the most pay per day. At higher levels of command that include Colonels, both commissioned, and enlisted officers are entitled to advancement to the rank of Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned can apply for general promotions. That means, those who’ve earlier been promoted to General are qualified to be promoted to Vice Captain or a Major.
Additionally, the salary increases for Specialties increases in every couple of years. You have to be in the top 20 percent of your class to be promoted to an Advanced pay grade.
