U.S. military pay scales are used as a primary measurement tool to determine personnel pay. Each of these branches has specific requirements that determine their pay scale. This includes bonuses and special payment considerations for seniors.

An employment cost index establishes an U.S. military pay scale called The Allowable Rate. The index is determined using the amount of enlisted members permanently, permanent personnel, and temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty personnel. After analyzing these elements then the rate is adjusted to give a percentage that takes into account the strength requirements of each of these groups for a stable workforce. This method is employed to establish a base military pay that is later applied in every branch.

The U.S army has its rank process in place. The ranks are established from the rank of First Lieutenant and the upper levels and comprise officers such as Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants, and majors. In the army, there are three levels classified from the highest to the lowest on the hierarchy of commands. They are called the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The second pay scale used by the army is First Major First Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and others. This ranks the people working in different areas of service within the various wings in the military. For example, individuals with lower rank in The Marine Corps will be considered officers placed in reserve or Officers Regular. The higher-ranked ones will be classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Also, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those who are in the Navy will be classified as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next stage in the military pay scale is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost rung is known as the ” Colonel”. In the Colonel rank, you are a general and be responsible for the entire military and entire staff. In this position you’ll also be able to receive the most pay per day. At higher levels, you can expect to receive the most number of of paid annual vacation.

Pay rises at this point are dependent on the military’s index of cost of employment. This is a way to take into account the rise of costs of living. When an area is characterized by one with a high cost index, the costs of living are expected to be much more than when the index is less. This results in an increase in the pay for military members who are highly educated and who have experienced similar promotions and raises similar to those of lower paygrades. Promotions in areas below their paygrade are not given a raise.

Officers who have both engaged and commissioned receive an advancement to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid as a Warrant Officer is determined by their actual commission score that is typically higher than the grade of their current star. In higher ranks of command such as Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers can receive promotions to Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers commissioned can apply for general promotions. For example, those who’ve had a previous promotion to a General are eligible to receive a promotion to Vice Captain or Major.

Additionally, the salary increases for Specialties go up approximately every two years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your class in order to earn the pay grade of Specialized. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist. If you have one of these specialty paygrades can apply to become a surgeon technician or Medical Assistant once they’ve reached the minimum number that have served in the past and have achieved the level of promotion required.
