In the Colonel rank, you will be promoted to General and will have responsibility for all military personnel and the entire staff. At this rank, you will also receive the highest pay per day. At higher levels, you can expect to receive an increased number of days of paid leave per month.
Pay increases at this rate are calculated based on the army cost of labor index. This is a method to take into account the rise of costs of living. If a location has an index of high value, the cost of living is predicted to be much higher than when the of living index is very low. This causes an increase in the salary of military personnel who are educated and have who have experienced similar promotions and raises like those in lower pay grades. People who are promoted to positions below their pay grade receive no increase.
Officers who have both an enlisted and commissioned rank get a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The salary they earn with this title is determined by their actual commission score that is typically higher than the grade of their current star. At higher levels of leadership like Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers will be eligible for an upgrade to Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned are eligible for general promotion. So, officers who have prior to that been upgraded to General will be qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or Major.
Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties go up at least every 2 years. It is necessary to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class in order to earn an advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialty pay grades are eligible to apply for the position of surgical technician, or Medical Assistant once they have reached the required number that have served in the past and completed the required level of promotion.
