Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties increase at least every 2 years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your class to get promoted to an Advanced pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. Individuals who hold any of these specialties pay grades can apply to become Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant after they’ve reached the required number that have served in the past and attained the necessary promotion level.
