Military Pay Charts Over The Years – The U.S. Military PayScale is the basic salary scale used by every member of the armed forces. U.S. military pay scales are used as the main measurement tool for determining personnel compensation. Army, Navy, Air Force, as well as Marine Corps are the branches which use the scale of pay used by military personnel. Each of these branches have specific requirements that determine their pay scale. This includes bonuses and a special pay consideration for seniority.
The index for employment costs establishes this U.S. military pay scale known as the Allowable Rate. The index is determined by studying the demands for enlisted personnel as well as permanent and temporary military retirees for 100 active duty personnel. After analyzing these variables to determine the appropriate rate, it is adjusted to give a percentage that will be based on the needs of each group to ensure an adequate workforce. This method is employed to define a minimum military pay that is then used in each branch.
The U.S army has its ranking process in place. Its ranks are set at the level of the First Lieutenant, and beyond and include officers like Sergeants, lieutenants, Colonels and majors. Within the army, three levels are classified from the highest to the lowest through the order of the commander. They are called the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.
The second pay scale used in the army is called the First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and other ranks. This ranks the people working in different categories of service within the various branches of the army. For example, individuals with lower rank within their respective divisions of the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Reserved or Officers Regular. However, higher-ranking individuals are classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Additionally, those who are in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits, and those in the Navy will be classified as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.
The next step up the pay scale of the military is called the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost rung is known as the ” Colonel”. When you attain the rank of Colonel, it means that you will be considered a General and will be in charge of all of the military and the entire staff. At this rank you’ll also be able to receive the most pay per day. At higher levels, are entitled to an increased number of paid days of vacation per month.
Pay increases at this rate are determined by the military cost of living index. This is a method to keep track of the rate of inflation of the cost of living. If an area has an index that is high, the costs of living are expected to be significantly higher than when the index is less. This will result in an increase of the wages of military personnel with a higher education level and who have experienced similar promotions and increases similar to those at lower pay grades. The ones who are promoted in the lower ranks of their pay receive no increment.
Officers who have both in the enlisted and commissioned ranks receive an advancement to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid as a Warrant Officer is determined by the actual rating of their commission and is typically above that of their real star. At higher levels of leadership that include Colonels, both enlisted and commissioned officers will be entitled to advancement to the rank of Colonel. Following an upgrade to Colonel, all commissioned officers can apply for general promotions. So, officers who have before been promoted as a General will be eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties increase at least every 2 years. You have to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class in order to earn an specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. The people who have any of these specialty paygrades may apply to become a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, after they’ve completed the required number in years served and reached the appropriate promotion level.
