Each of these branches have particular rules and regulations that determine its pay scale. This includes bonuses and other special pay considerations for seniority.

Military Pay Job Description

An employment cost index establishes what is known as the U.S. military pay scale known as“allowable” Rate. The index is determined by looking at the need for enlisted personnel as well as permanent personnel and temporary military retirees for 100 active-duty personnel. After considering these factors then the rate is adjusted to provide a rate that is based on the requirements for strength for each group in order to guarantee a sufficient workforce. This technique is used to define a minimum military pay that is later applied in every branch.

The U.S army has its rank established system. The ranks are decided through the first lieutenant, and beyond and include officers like Colonels, lieutenants, sergeants and majors. Within the army, three levels are ordered from the top to the bottom on the hierarchy of commands. They are known as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale used in the army is First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and then on. These pay scales rank people in various areas of service within the various wings of the army. For instance, those with lower ranks in The Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve, or Officers Regular. In contrast, upper-ranked individuals will be classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Furthermore, those working in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits, and those who are in the Navy will be regarded as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next stage in the pay scale for military personnel is called the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost ladder is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. As a Colonel, will rank as a General and will have responsibility for the entire military as well as the whole staff. As a Colonel you also get the most salary per day. As you progress, you are entitled to an increased number of paid days of vacation per month.

Pay increments at this level are based on the military cost of living index. This is a method to accommodate for the increase of living expenses. In areas with a high index, the cost of living will be expected to be more expensive than when the index falls. This is a reason for an increase the amount of pay paid to military personnel who have high educational qualifications and had similar promotions and increments that are similar to those in lower pay levels. People who are promoted to areas below their paygrade are not given a raise.

Officers who are an enlisted and commissioned rank get an increase to the rank of Warrant Officer. The salary they earn with this title is determined by their actual commission ratings which is usually greater than the level of their actual star. In higher ranks of command like Colonel both enlisted and commissioned officers can be eligible for the rank of Colonel. Following an upgrade to Colonel, all officers commissioned can be promoted to general. That means, those who’ve previously been promoted to General are eligible to receive a promotion to Vice Captain or Major.

In addition, the salaries for Specialties are increased  every two years. You need to be among the top 20 percent of your class to be promoted to a Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. The people who have any of these specialties pay grades are eligible to apply for the position of surgical technician or Medical Assistant after they have reached the required number to years working and have attained the necessary promotion level.
