The pay increases for Specialties rise every two years. You need to be in the top twenty percent of your enlistment class to qualify for the pay grade of Specialized. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these specialty pay grades can apply to become Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant, after they’ve reached the required number hours of work experience and have reached the required promotion level.
