An employment cost index establishes an U.S. military pay scale called“Allowed” Rate. The index is determined by analyzing the demand for enlisted troops or permanent employees, as well as temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty personnel. When considering these aspects The rate is then adjusted to give a rate that is based on the requirements for strength of each group to ensure that there is a sufficient number of workers. This process is used to fix a basic rate of military pay that is used by each branch.

The U.S army has its ranking procedure in force. The ranks are determined by the First Lieutenant, and beyond and include officers like Colonels, lieutenants, sergeants, and majors. Within the army, three levels are ordered from the top to the bottom in the chain of command. They are referred to as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The second pay scale used by the army is First Major First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant and so on. This ranks the people working in different categories of service within the various wings of the army. For instance, people with lower ranks within the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Reserved or Officers Regular. On the other hand, those with higher ranks are classified as Officers Special or Specialists. Also, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits, and those who are in the Navy will be considered Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step up the pay scale of the military is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost rank is the ” Colonel”. As a Colonel, are a general and will be accountable for the entire military as well as the entire staff. As a Colonel you’ll also receive the most amounts of money per day. At higher levels, you are entitled to an increased number of paid days of vacation per month.

Pay increases at this level are dependent on the cost of employment. This allows you to take into account the rise in living expenses. If an area has an index that is high, the cost of living will be expected to be greater than when the index is lower. This can result in an increase in the wages of military personnel who are educated and have had similar promotions and raises similar to those of lower pay levels. The ones who are promoted in areas below their paygrade get no raise.

Officers who have both an enlisted and commissioned rank get an increase to the rank of Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid in this grade is determined by their commission rating, which is usually above that of their real star. Higher levels of command that include Colonels, both enlisted and commissioned officers can receive promotions to Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all commissioned officers can apply for general promotions. That means, those who’ve already been elevated to General will be eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties increase  every two years. You need to be in the top twenty percent of your class to qualify for the Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these pay grade specializations can apply to become a Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant when they have reached the required number to years working and reached the required promotion level.
