An employment cost index determines an U.S. military pay scale known as“allowable” Rate. The index is calculated through the analysis of the demands for enlisted personnel as well as permanent and temporary military retirees for 100 active duty personnel. When considering these aspects and adjusting the rate to give a rate that assumes the strength requirements for each group in order to guarantee a sufficient workforce. This technique is used to set a basic military pay that is later applied in every branch.

The U.S army has its ranking procedure in force. The ranks are established with the help of First Lieutenant and above and comprise officers such as Sergeants, lieutenants, Colonels and majors. Within the army, there are three levels in order from highest to lowest within the command chain. They are known as “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale employed within the army are the First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant and further on. These pay scales rank people in various areas of service within the various branches of the army. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  in the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve or Officers Regular. For those who are higher-ranked, they will be classified as Specialists or Officers Special. In addition, those employed in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruiters and those who are in the Navy will be designated as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next rung on the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost step is known as the ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you will be a general and will oversee all of the military and the whole staff. In this position you’ll also be able to receive the most pay per day. At higher levels, you will be able to enjoy the most number of paid days of leave per month.

Pay increases at this rate are dependent on the cost of living index. This allows you to adjust for the inflation in living expenses. In areas with an index of high value, the cost of living will be expected to be higher than when the index is low. This leads to an increase in the salaries of military personnel who have high educational qualifications and had similar promotions and increases similar to those at lower pay levels. Those who are promoted in posts below their pay grade receive no increase.

Officers that are both employed and enlisted are given a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid for this position is determined by their actual commission ratings that is generally higher than that of their real star. Higher levels of command that include Colonels, both commissioned and enlisted officers are entitled to being promoted to Colonel. When they are upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned are eligible for general promotion. Therefore, those who have earlier been promoted to General will be capable of being promoted to Vice Captain or a Major.

Additionally, the salary increases for Specialties rise in every couple of years. You need to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to gain promotion to an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, as well as Information Technology Specialist. The people who have any of these specialty paygrades can apply to become surgical technician, or Medical Assistant, once they’ve reached the required number in years served and have achieved the level of promotion required.
