Military Pay Plan – The U.S. Military PayScale is the standard salary scale used by all members of the armed forces. U.S. military pay scales serve as a principal measurement tool to determine personnel pay. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps are the branches which utilize the scale of pay used by military personnel. Each of these branches has specific regulations that determine its pay grade. This includes bonuses and a special compensation for seniority.
An index of cost of employment establishes how much the U.S. military pay scale called“allowable” Rate. The index is found by analyzing the demand for enlisted personnel or permanent employees, as well as temporary military retirees per 100 active duty personnel. After taking into account these factors it is then adjusted to give a rate that assumes the strength requirements of each of these groups for a stable workforce. This is the method used to define a minimum military pay that is then applied to every branch.
It is the U.S army has a ranking established system. Its ranks are established through the first lieutenant and up and comprise officers such as sergeants, lieutenants (colonels), lieutenants and majors. In the army, three levels are in order from highest to lowest in the chain of command. They are referred to as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.
The pay scale that is used within the army are the First Major First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and further on. The pay scale ranks individuals across different areas of service within the different branches of the army. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s in the Marine Corps will be considered Officers in Reserve or Officers Regular. On the other hand, those with higher ranks will be classified as Officers Special or Specialists. In addition, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits, and those who are in the Navy will be classified as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.
The next rung on the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost scale is the ” Colonel”. As a Colonel, will be considered a General and be responsible for all military personnel and the entire staff. As a Colonel you also get the most money per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you will also receive the most number of days of paid annual vacation.
Pay increase at this level are in accordance with the military’s cost of living index. This is a method to take into account the rise of living costs. When an area is characterized by high cost index, the cost of living is expected to be much higher than when the cost index falls. This is a reason for an increase the pay for military members who are highly educated and who have experienced similar promotions and increments that are similar to those in lower pay levels. Those who are promoted in positions below their pay grade have no pay increase.
Officers who hold both a commissioning and enlisted receive a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid with this title is based on their actual commission score that is typically higher than the grade of their current star. At higher levels of command such as Colonel both enlisted and commissioned officers are eligible for a promotion to a Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers who are commissioned can be promoted to general. So, officers who have prior to that been upgraded to General are eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or a Major.
The pay increases for Specialties will increase in every couple of years. You need to be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to gain promotion to an advanced pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Those with any of these pay grades can apply to become surgical technician or Medical Assistant after they’ve reached the required number hours of work experience and reached the appropriate promotion level.
