Military Pay Scale 4 Star General – The U.S. Military PayScale is the basic salary scale used by all members of the Armed forces. U.S. military pay scales are used as the main measurement tool to determine personnel compensation. Army, Navy, Air Force as well as Marine Corps are the branches that use the scale of pay used by military personnel. Each branch has specific requirements that determine their pay scale. This includes bonuses and a special compensation for seniority.
An index of cost of employment establishes an U.S. military pay scale called The Allowable Rate. The next step up the pay scale for military personnel is called the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rank is the ” Colonel”. When you reach the rank of Colonel, you are a general and will have responsibility for all of the military and the whole staff. In this position you’ll also receive the highest amount of pay per day. At higher levels, you will receive a number of days of paid vacation per month.
Pay increase at this level are calculated based on the army index of cost of employment. This is a method to take into account the rise in living expenses. If an area has an index that is high, then the cost of living is likely to be more expensive than when the cost index is less. This leads to an increase in the salaries of military personnel with a higher education level and who have experienced similar promotions and raises like those in lower paygrades. Those who are promoted in posts below their pay grade receive no increment.
Officers who have both commissioning and enlisted receive a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The salary they earn for this position is determined by the actual rating of their commission and is typically above the grade of their current star. Higher levels of command like Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers can be eligible for advancement to the rank of Colonel. After a promotion to Colonel, all officers commissioned can be promoted to general. That means, those who’ve had a previous promotion to General will be qualified to be promoted to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties rise every two years. You have to be in the top 20 percent of your class to gain promotion to an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Individuals who hold any of these pay grades may apply to become a surgeon technician or Medical Assistant after they’ve completed the necessary number to years working and reached the appropriate promotion level.
