In the Colonel rank, you will be considered a General and will be accountable for your entire army and whole staff. As a Colonel, you will also receive the highest amount of pay per day. Higher levels can expect to receive the most number of of paid annual vacation.
Pay increase at this level are dependent on the employment cost index. This allows you to take into account the rise of living costs. If an area has high cost index, the cost of living is predicted to be significantly higher than when the index falls. This leads to an increase in the wages of military personnel who are educated and have were promoted and received pay rises as those who are in lower pay grades. Those who are promoted in positions below their pay grade receive no increment.
Officers who hold both a commissioned and enlisted rank receive a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid for this position is determined by their actual commission rating which is usually higher than the grade of their current star. When they reach higher levels of the command that include Colonels, both enlisted and commissioned officers will be entitled to an upgrade to Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers who are commissioned can apply for general promotions. Thus, those who have had a previous promotion to General are qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or Major.
In addition, the salaries for Specialties rise at least every 2 years. You have to be in the top 20 percent of your class to qualify for an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist.
