Military Pay Scale E8 – The U.S. Military PayScale is the base salary scale of every member of the armed forces. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  within military units like the Marine Corps will be considered Officers Placed In Reserve, or Officers Regular. However, higher-ranking individuals are classified as Specialists or Officers Special. Additionally, those who are in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits and those in the Navy are classified as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step up the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost ladder is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. When you attain the rank of Colonel, it means that you will be a general and will be in charge of all military personnel and the whole staff. In this position you also get the highest amount of pay per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you can expect to receive an increased number of days of paid time off per calendar month.

Pay increase at this level are dependent on the employment cost index. This allows you to accommodate for the increase of the cost of living. If a location has an index that is high, then the costs of living are expected to be greater than when the cost index falls. This can result in an increase in the compensation of military members who are highly educated and experienced similar promotions and pay raises like those in lower pay grades. People who are promoted to jobs that are not in their pay grade have no pay increase.

Officers who are an enlisted and commissioned rank get an advancement to a Warrant Officer. The pay they receive when they reach this level is based on the commission they receive which is usually greater than the rank of their actual star. In higher ranks of command, such as Colonel, both commissioned and enlisted officers are entitled to the rank of Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned will be eligible for general promotion. That means, those who’ve earlier been promoted to General will be eligible for promotions to a Vice Captain or Major.

Additionally, the salary increases for Specialties will increase twice a year. You need to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to get promoted to an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. Individuals who hold any of these specialty pay grades could apply to be a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant after they’ve completed the necessary number to years working and reached the minimum level for promotion.
