Military Pay Scale In 1970 – The U.S. Military PayScale is the salary scale that is used for all members of the Armed forces. U.S. military pay scales are used as the main measurement tool to determine personnel pay. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps are the branches that employ the military pay scale. Each of these branches have specific provisions that determine its pay grade. These include bonuses and pay consideration for seniority.

The index for employment costs establishes what is known as the U.S. military pay scale called the Allowable Rate. The index is calculated using the need for enlisted personnel permanently, permanent personnel, and temporary military retirees per 100 active duty personnel. After considering these factors then the rate is adjusted to provide a rate that is based on the requirements for strength of each of these groups to ensure a sufficient workforce. This process is used to establish a base military pay that is used by every branch.

The U.S army has its ranking process in place. Its ranks are set from the rank of First Lieutenant and up and include officers like Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants and majors. Within the army, three levels are placed from top to bottom in the chain of command. They are referred to as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale used in the army is First Major First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and other ranks. It ranks individuals in various fields of service in the different branches that comprise the Army. For example, the lower-ranking individual’s  within the Marine Corps will be considered Officers placed in Reserve or Officers Regular. The higher-ranked ones will be classified as Specialists or Officers Special. In addition, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits and those in the Navy will be classified as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next stage in the pay scale for military personnel is the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this step is known as“Colonel” ” Colonel”. At Colonel rank, you become a General and have the responsibility for the entire military and entire staff. At this rank you’ll also receive the most money per day. Higher levels can expect to receive an increased number of days of paid holiday per month.

Pay rises at this point are dependent on the military’s cost of living index. This is a method to take into account the rise of living costs. When an area is characterized by one with a high cost index, the cost of living is expected to be significantly higher than when the cost index is lower. This will result in an increase of the salary of military personnel who are highly educated and enjoyed similar promotions as well as pay increments that are similar to those in lower pay levels. People who are promoted to posts below their pay grade receive no increment.

Officers who are both commissioned and enlisted rank receive a promotion to a Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid with this title is based on their actual commission ratings that is generally higher than the grade of their current star. Higher ranks of command such as Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers will be eligible for the rank of Colonel. Following an upgrade to Colonel, all officers commissioned will be eligible for general promotion. Therefore, those who have prior to that been upgraded to a General are eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

Finally, the increases in pay for Specialties increase approximately every two years. It is necessary to be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class in order to earn an specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. The people who have any of these specialty pay grades could apply to be a surgeon technician or Medical Assistant after they have reached the required number or years in service, and attained the necessary promotion level.
