Each branch has specific provisions that determine its pay grade. This includes bonuses and a special payment considerations for seniors.

Military Pay Scale Per Year

An employment cost index determines the U.S. military pay scale called“Allowable Rate. The index is calculated by analyzing the demand for enlisted personnel as well as permanent personnel and temporary military retirees for 100 active duty personnel. After taking into account these factors, the rate is adjusted to give a percentage that considers the strength requirements of each of these groups for a stable workforce. This method is used in order to set a basic military pay that is used by each branch.

The U.S army has its own ranking system in place. Its ranks are formulated from the rank of First Lieutenant and above and comprise officers such as Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants and majors. In the army, there are three levels classified from the highest to the lowest to the top of the line of command. They are known as the “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale used within the army is the First Major First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, and the list goes on. These pay scales rank people in various sectors of service in various branches in the military. For instance, those with lower ranks within The Marine Corps will be considered Officers Reserved or Officers Regular. While those with higher rank will be classified as Officers Special or Specialists. In addition, individuals in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits and those in the Navy will be regarded as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step in the pay scale of the military is called the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost scale is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. When you reach the rank of Colonel, you are a general and will be accountable for all military personnel and the entire staff. As a Colonel you’ll also earn the highest pay per day. At higher levels, can expect to receive a number of days of paid annual vacation.

Pay increases at this point are dependent on the military’s employment cost index. This is a way to adjust for the inflation of costs of living. When an area has an index of high value, the costs of living are expected to be much higher than when the cost index is low. This leads to an increase in the pay for military members who are educated and have received similar promotions and increases that are comparable to those in lower pay grades. Personnel who are promoted to the lower ranks of their pay are not given a raise.

Officers who have both engaged and commissioned receive an increase to the rank of Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid in this grade is based on their actual commission ratings which is usually greater than the grade of their real star. At higher levels of leadership like Colonel both enlisted and commissioned officers are eligible for being promoted to Colonel. After an upgrade to Colonel, all commissioned officers are eligible for general promotions. For example, those who’ve previously been promoted to General are qualified for promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

The pay increases for Specialties go up approximately every two years. It is necessary to be among the top 20 percent of your class to be promoted to the Specialized pay grade. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. Anyone with one of these specialty paygrades are eligible to apply for the position of surgical technician, or Medical Assistant once they’ve completed the necessary number hours of work experience and reached the required promotion level.
