U.S. military pay scales are used as the main instrument for measuring personnel pay. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps are the branches which utilize the scale of pay used by military personnel. Each branch has particular rules and regulations that determine its pay grade. The higher-ranked ones will be classified as Officers Special or Specialists. In addition, those in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits, while those in the Navy are regarded as Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.
The next level in the pay scale for military personnel is called the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this ladder is“Colonel” ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you will be promoted to General and will be in charge of the entire military as well as the whole staff. At this rank, you will also receive the most salary per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you are entitled to the most number of paid days of holiday per month.
Pay increments at this level are based on the military cost of labor index. This is a method to account for the rising of the cost of living. When an area has high cost index, the cost of living is likely to be significantly higher than when the index is low. This will result in an increase of the compensation of military members who have high educational qualifications and were promoted and received pay raises similar to those of lower pay grades. The ones who are promoted in the lower ranks of their pay receive no increase.
Officers who have both commissioning and enlisted receive promotions to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn as a Warrant Officer is determined by their actual commission ratings which is usually greater than that of their real star. At higher levels of leadership like Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers are entitled to an upgrade to Colonel. When they are upgraded to Colonel, all commissioned officers can be promoted to general. For example, those who’ve previously been promoted to a General will be eligible to receive a promotion to a Vice Captain or a Major.
Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties rise in every couple of years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your class to qualify for the Specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. Anyone with one of these pay grade specializations are eligible to apply for the position of Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant after they have reached the required number of years of service and achieved the level of promotion required.
