U.S. military pay scales serve as the primary instrument for measuring personnel pay. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps are the branches that use the scale of pay used by military personnel. Each of these branches have specific regulations that determine its pay scale. This includes bonuses and other special pay considerations for seniority.

The index for employment costs establishes that U.S. military pay scale known as“the Allowable Rate. The index is found using the demand for enlisted personnel as well as permanent and temporary military retirees per 100 active-duty personnel. After taking into account these factors and adjusting the rate to provide a rate that relies on the strength requirements for each group to ensure a sufficient workforce. This is the method used to define a minimum military pay that is then applied to every branch.

It is the U.S army has a ranking established system. Its ranks are set with the help of First Lieutenant and up and include officers like Lieutenants, Colonels, sergeants, and majors. In the army, there are three levels classified from the highest to the lowest within the command chain. They are referred to as “major”, “first lieutenant,” and “second lieutenant”.

The other pay scale used within the army is the First Major, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant and so on. This ranks people in different areas of work in the various wings of the army. For example, those who are lower-ranked in their respective divisions of the Marine Corps will be considered officers placed in reserve or Officers Regular. The higher-ranked ones will be classified as Officers Special or Specialists. In addition, those employed in the Air Force will be considered Officers Air Recruits. Likewise, those in the Navy will be considered Officers Navy or Officers Waterman.

The next step up the pay scale of the military is called the ” Sergeant Major”. At the top of this rung is known as the ” Colonel”. If you are a Colonel, you become a General and will have responsibility for the entire military and the entire staff. At this level you’ll also receive the most salary per day. At higher levels, you will also receive a number of days of paid holidays per year.

Pay increases at this rate are dependent on the military’s cost of living index. This is an attempt to keep track of the rate of inflation of living costs. When a region has an index that is high, then the cost of living will be expected to be greater than when the cost index is lower. This causes an increase in the wages of military personnel who have a high education and enjoyed similar promotions as well as pay raises similar to those of lower pay levels. Promotions in lower pay grades receive no additional pay.

Officers who hold both a employed and enlisted are given an increase to the rank of Warrant Officer. The salary they earn at this rank is determined by their actual commission ratings which is usually higher than the grade of their real star. Higher levels of command such as Colonel both commissioned and enlisted officers are entitled to the rank of Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers who are commissioned can apply for general promotions. Thus, those who have prior to that been upgraded to General are eligible for a promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

Also, the increments in pay for Specialties will increase  every two years. You must be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to gain promotion to the pay grade of Specialized. These pay grades include Technician Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist, and Information Technology Specialist. People who have any of these pay levels can apply to become Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant once they’ve completed the required number to years working and reached the appropriate promotion level.
