At higher levels, can expect to receive an increased number of days of paid vacation per month.
Pay rises at this point are based on the military cost of living index. This is a method to keep track of the rate of inflation of the cost of living. In areas with an index that is high, then the cost of living is expected to be much more than when the cost of living index is very low. This causes an increase in the amount of pay paid to military personnel who are highly educated and experienced similar promotions and pay rises as those who are in lower pay grades. For those who have promotions in posts below their pay grade get no raise.
Officers who are both in the enlisted and commissioned ranks receive the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The pay they receive at this rank is based on the actual rating of their commission that is typically higher than the actual star. At higher levels of command such as Colonel both enlisted and commissioned officers are eligible for an upgrade to Colonel. Following an upgrade to Colonel, all commissioned officers are eligible for general promotion. That means, those who’ve already been elevated to a General are eligible for promotions to Vice Captain or a Major.
In addition, the salaries for Specialties increase every two years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your class to qualify for an advanced pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. If you have one of these specialty paygrades may apply to become a Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant, once they have reached the required number in years served and reached the required promotion level.
