Pay increases at this point are dependent on the cost of labor index. This is a method to account for the rising in living expenses. If an area has an index of high value, the cost of living is likely to be significantly higher than when the cost Index is not high. This will result in an increase of the salary of military personnel who are highly educated and received similar promotions and increases similar to those at lower pay grades. The ones who are promoted in jobs that are not in their pay grade receive no additional pay.

Officers who are both employed and enlisted are given an increase to the rank of Warrant Officer. The amount they are paid when they reach this level is based on the actual rating of their commission which is usually higher than the grade of their current star. At higher levels of command like Colonel both commissioned, and enlisted officers can receive advancement to the rank of Colonel. After an upgrade to Colonel, all commissioned officers can apply for general promotions. Therefore, those who have prior to that been upgraded to a General are qualified for promotion to a Vice Captain or Major.

Also, the increments in pay for Specialties increases  every two years. You have to be among the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to be promoted to an specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. If you have one of these pay grade specializations are eligible to apply for the position of Surgical Technician, or a Medical Assistant when they’ve reached the minimum number to years working and achieved the level of promotion required.
