This causes an increase in the salary of military personnel who are highly educated . They have had similar promotions and raises like those in lower paygrades. Officers that are both engaged and commissioned receive an upgrade to Warrant Officer. The pay they receive at this rank is determined by their commission rating that is typically higher than the level of their actual star. At higher levels of command, such as Colonel, both enlisted and commissioned officers can receive a promotion to a Colonel. Once they have been upgraded to Colonel, all officers commissioned can be promoted to general. Therefore, those who have had a previous promotion to a General are qualified for promotion to Vice Captain or Major.
Lastly, the pay increases for Specialties will increase twice a year. It is necessary to be in the top 20 percent of your class to get promoted to a Specialized pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician, Computer Networking Specialist as well as Information Technology Specialist.
