The next stage in the military pay scale is called the ” Sergeant Major”. The topmost scale is the ” Colonel”. When you reach the rank of Colonel, you are a general and will be in charge of your entire army and entire staff. As a Colonel, you will also receive the highest pay per day. If you are promoted to higher levels, you will receive a number of days of paid vacation per month.
Pay increases at this level are dependent on the military’s index of cost of employment. This is an attempt to account for the rising in living expenses. When an area has an index that is high, the cost of living is predicted to be significantly higher than when the cost index is low. This results in an increase in the compensation of military members who are highly educated and had similar promotions and increases similar to those at lower pay grades. Promotions in positions below their pay grade get no raise.
Officers that are both an enlisted and commissioned rank get the opportunity to be promoted to Warrant Officer. The salary they earn as a Warrant Officer is based on their actual commission score that is typically higher than the level of their actual star. Higher ranks of command, such as Colonel, both enlisted and commissioned officers can receive an upgrade to Colonel. After an upgrade to a Colonel, all officers who are commissioned will be eligible for general promotion. Therefore, those who have earlier been promoted to General are eligible for a promotion to Vice Captain or a Major.
The pay increases for Specialties go up twice a year. You must be in the top 20 percent of your enlistment class to be promoted to an Advanced pay grade. The pay grades are Technician, Radio Technician Computer Networking Specialist and Information Technology Specialist. The people who have any of these pay levels may apply to become a surgical technician, or Medical Assistant after they’ve reached the minimum number hours of work experience and have reached the required promotion level.
